We build
to find out.

Xylo Labs is an independent product lab. We design, build and ship experiments: products, startups, developer tools, AI and other ideas for the internet. Some become companies. Every one of them ships.

Experiments

Everything we start gets a number and ships in public. This is the index, in the order we started.

Xylo

Stablecoin infrastructure for African markets.

From

USDC

Stablecoin on Base

Through

Xylo

Settlement and API

To

Local markets

Fiat on and off-ramps

Value moves from USDC on Base, through Xylo’s settlement infrastructure and API, to local African markets via fiat on and off-ramps.

Stablecoins are making money as global as information. Xylo is the layer between onchain liquidity and the local economies that existing rails were never designed for: settlement in USDC, connections to local fiat, and an API developers can build on.

eETB

The Ethiopian birr, onchain.

Backed by

Ethiopian birr

Reserves planned

Issued as

eETB

1:1 with ETB, on Ethereum

Used for

Onchain value

Payments, DeFi, cross-border

eETB is designed to be backed one to one by Ethiopian birr reserves, which are planned but not yet in place. It is issued on Ethereum and used onchain for payments, DeFi and cross-border transfers.

eETB is an Ethiopian birr stablecoin on Ethereum, designed to be fully backed and pegged 1:1 to ETB. It brings the birr onchain so it can move the way the internet does: in payments, in DeFi, and across borders. The reserves that will back it aren’t in place yet.

eETB is an experiment in development. It isn’t available, the reserves that would back it aren’t in place yet, and nothing on this site is an offer to buy, sell or hold eETB or any other asset, or financial advice.

The lab

We’re a small lab that builds things to see what happens.

We follow ideas where software, startups, AI and the internet meet, make them real quickly, and let the people who use them decide what they’re worth.

Some experiments grow into companies with their own name and team. Some stay small and useful. Some end, and get written up so the next one starts smarter.

  1. 01

    Question

Every experiment starts as something we want to know.

  2. 02

    Prototype

The smallest real version, built in weeks rather than quarters.

  3. 03

    Ship

Put it in front of people and watch what they actually do.

  4. 04

    Decide

Spin it out, keep it small, or close it and write up what we learned.

What we’re
curious about

Where we look for the next experiment. The list changes as we do.

  • ProductsSmall, sharp software that people keep open.
  • StartupsExperiments with enough pull to deserve a company.
  • AISoftware that does the work instead of describing it.
  • Developer toolsThe things we wish existed while building everything else.
  • Web3Onchain rails, where they beat the old ones.Exp. 001002
  • Internet experimentsOdd ideas that only make sense online.

Ideas are cheap. Finding out is the work. So we build the real thing, put it on the internet, and let the internet answer.
